Self Portrait”, 2024- Clipped paper, digital collage.

I was born and raised in a small town on the Prairies with an abundance of time, space and inspiration. I am a dreamer, creator and a wizard with scissors and a glue stick. My work is a playful and loose illustration of my life. I clip wherever I roam, creating a large and cluttered catalogue of paper images to incorporate into my illustrations and ceramics.

Whether I am clipping around a campfire, during a ferry crossing or at the chaos of my desk, this medium speaks to me as it is fast, playful, open ended and utilizes scrap materials. I delight in using every last piece as I snip colourful shapes loaded with frenetic mark making to tell my story.

Recently, these stories have found their way into my ceramic work. The process feels familiar but fresh— clay takes the place of paper, washes of underglaze instead of acrylic paint, and carving tools replace scissors. This process allows for spontaneity and impulsivity but forces a level of planning and attention that feels like a wonderful stretch.

Art has always been a powerful connector for me. You made it here… thank you..
